“Philanthropy AND Fundraising: Two Critical Strategies” October 20, 2021 @ 11am – Virtual
Philanthropy is different from Fundraising. Yet, too often, inexperienced or professionals unfamiliar with either one do not know the difference, and their efforts at managing both explicitly suffer. One is a required strategy if the other is going to succeed. And one is a strategy that furthermore relies on the other’s community to be strong. One builds the community from which your fundraising will prosper, it drives engagement and loyalty. The other is the system and structure which you use to capture those evolving in your Philanthropic community. It’s all very scientific. You can plan, forecast, and measure these topics with very specific objectives and outcomes. This workshop will teach you how!
- Participants will be able to identify and specifically articulate the fundamental and the critical differences between philanthropy and fundraising
- Attendees will understand learn to particularly design the process and key imperatives for each, philanthropy and fundraising
- Participants will moreover explore behavioral indicators for both philanthropy and fundraising through a group case study
- Attendees will learn how to correlate and capture the philanthropic reaction of their community through a fundraising strategy. This strategy will markedly define and segment donors.
Sondra Lintelmann-Dellaripa, President of Harvest Development Group, LLC, and Founder of BLOSSOM: The eLearning Platform for Serious Do-Gooders. With more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience, Sondra speaks at national conferences. These include Blackbaud’s International Conference on Philanthropy, NACHRI, the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. A published knowledge expert in the AHP and AFP Journals, Sondra is also a thought leader who shares insights regarding nonprofit trends and issues on NPR, and on local FOX, NBC, and ABC affiliates. Sondra was the 2018 International Association of Women’s Innovator of the Year, and she received the Private Impact Award from the NGMA in 2019 for her work with the US Coast Guard Academy, establishing the first-ever Grants Office for a military academy. She holds a B.A. in Marketing and is an elected member of the National Honor Society for Business, Delta Mu Delta.
Scott Selig, Vice President of Business Development, Harvest Development Group, LLC. He has worked in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. He has been an Executive Director for non-profits in Healthcare, Higher Education, and Community Development areas as well in Business Development for Healthcare, Mobile App, Parking, and Software industries. Scott is a mentor with the CT Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. Their mission is to support the future leaders of the world’s Jewish communities through teaching Tikkun-Olam (Hebrew for healing the world).
He was recently named to the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement. Scott is a lead in the Graduate Student Mentorship Group. Previously, Scott has served as a mentor for the Obama Foundation Hartford Cohort coaching a team addressing teen homelessness and runaways. Scott has a master’s degree in teaching, education/history from Washington University in St. Louis, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Emory University.
